If the granite surface immediately takes in most of the water and develops a dark mark or ring, you need to seal it once every few months. If it takes a few minutes for your stone countertop to soak up all the water, you only need to seal it once every year or two.

Porcelain’s non-porous nature makes it highly resistant to staining. It doesn’t absorb any liquids, making it very easy to maintain. Porcelain countertops can be wiped down with mild soap and water or non-abrasive cleaners.

Ceramic surfaces are more durable than granite countertops. This is due to the fact that porcelain is a tougher substance than granite. Porcelain is a seven on this scale, whereas granite is a six. This means that porcelain is more scratch and chip resistant than granite.

You may want to update your countertops every 10 to 15 years, though it depends on the material of your counters. Some countertop materials, like copper and marble, may be more durable and long-lasting than more budget-friendly materials like laminate.
